Agriculture: PDESN proposes solutions for food sovereignty

The party unveiled a multi-part plan to modernise family farming and reduce imports of staple foods.
At the heart of the proposal: farm mechanisation, better water management and storage units in every region to limit post-harvest losses.
PDESN also calls for guaranteed prices for strategic crops such as rice, onions and groundnuts, to secure farmers’ incomes.
Feeding Senegal from Senegal is not a slogan, it is a necessity.
Consultations with farmers’ organisations are planned in the Kaolack, Matam and Saint-Louis regions.
